Gurnard Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight hosted the RS Tera Southern Championships 2021 sponsored by Allen over the weekend of 15th & 16th May. 19 Isle of Wight based sailors were joined by 21 visitors from the “North Island” to give 29 entries in the Sport fleet and 11 sailors in the Pro fleet.

Celtic Sea Watersports Centre in Dale, Pembrokeshire welcomed 11 sailors, including 2 guests from the Midlands, for the RS Tera Wales May Bank Holiday training camp.

12 Junior sailors from around the Southwest, including a contingent of 7 from Starcross YC, attended the last of this seasons RS Tera South West region training events, in conjuction with SWYSA, on Sunday 18th April, once again kindly hosted by Paignton SC.

It was a great experience to be invited to give sessions to the RS Tera Class members as a part of the Online Sailing Academy that commenced on the 30/01/2021, which will continue for a further 2 weeks.

16 junior sailors from across the Island competed in the Isle of Wight Tera Championship on Saturday 5th December at Gurnard Sailing Club. Winds were blowing at over 30 knots in the central Solent but an offshore direction made Gurnard Bay sheltered enough for racing, although in extremely gusty and shifty conditions.

The final class event on the RS Tera calendar, the Rooster End of Season Championships 2020, was held at it’s traditional venue, Draycote Water Sailing Club, on the weekend of 24th/25th October. Rob and Will report...
