Day One the weather was wet, but it didn’t quell the wind. The sailors worked on their boat handling under the expert eye of Jonathan with coaching advice, encouragement and a joke or two. Day 2 we were blessed with sunshine and shifty winds and some inadvertent capsize practice. The shifty wind made it more of a challenge for Midland RS Tera sailors and they all had even more fun.

Comments from some of the sailors and parents, “I like watching the more experienced Tera sailors, see what they are doing and try to copy them” said Ben. Felicity said “I had fun and learnt lots“. Kathryn gave some great feedback "Steep learning curve for both myself and Rowan - but you have to start somewhere! We are both feeling incredibly enthusiastic about future Tera events"

The smiles on these RS Tera sailors faces proved it was a successful two days for all. It was great to see new sailors to the class taking part in their first ever Tera training as well as some familiar faces.

Thank you to the parents and sailors for observing the social distancing on the slip ways and keeping everyone safe without this attention to detail we all risk not being able to continue sailing. Thank you to parents and sailors for taking the time to pass on their knowledge and experience to the new sailors and parents, demonstrating what a friendly bunch the Tera lot are.

Every family will have been affected differently during lock down, and I know that not only were the sailors improving their sailing skills over the two days in preparation for the Nationals but they were having fun!
