The Association’s event organising committee has been working tirelessly over the past months to make the Nationals happen, but unfortunately, the obstacles put in our way due to the Covid-19 restrictions have become insurmountable.

Once we had the news that RTYC was unable to host the event, we thought we had an 11th-hour solution that would enable us to change venue, delivering an equally great sailing area and providing a significant boat park area and beach-style launching, but this too proved impossible.

Class Development Manager Marcus Collingbourne commented “ It is a shame that after so much hard work by both the Association and the host venue that we have ended up having to cancel this year's Nationals. We thought we had a viable alternative at the last minute but with the government restrictions, particularly shore-side, this too was unattainable. We thank our Tera family for their support during this challenging year and we look forward to hopefully delivering some quality RS Tera racing before season end".

We would like to thank all those that replied to our recent Nationals 2020 survey, particularly for such positive feedback. In these uncertain times, it was heartening to see a massive 80% of respondents wishing to see the event go ahead. Also, it showed the resilience of our sailors, and parents, with nearly 90% saying the lack of changing facilities at a venue would not put them off attending – it just goes to show that our Tera sailors want to go racing!

Having lost 3 of our 4 national events this sailing season we are hoping that, given the continued easing of restrictions, we will be able to organize an event in the late Summer/early Autumn, tentatively titled THE Event, more information will be released in due course.

In these uncertain times, the UK RS Tera Class Association is working hard to promote RS Tera sailing and racing throughout the UK, and we would urge all Tera sailors across the UK to help us survive these challenging times by joining and paying the £17.50 Annual Membership Fee for 2020 – we can not exist without paying members.
